La Galerie Davide Di Maggio Berlino/Milano, in collaborazione con la Fondazione Mudima, inaugura negli spazi in via Tadino 26 a Milano, la prima parte di un progetto della durata di due anni, che si propone di dare una visuale del panorama della giovane pittura italiana e internazionale.  

Nella prima parte di questo progetto, saranno impegnati, Pierpaolo Curti, Roger Hansson e Franziska Klotz.

Pierpaolo Curti, nato nel 1972 a Lodi (Mi), dove vive e lavora, propone una pittura fredda, metafisica.I luoghi familiari vengono fissati, “ghiacciati” sulla tavola, con toni cromatici tenui, piatti; quasi un non colore, dove però appare di tanto in tanto la materia che riporta alla tradizione pittorica legata alla terra lombarda.Dopo la recente partecipazione alla collettiva Prüfstelle a Berlino, l’artista presenta in mostra  sette nuovi lavori, che vanno verso questa direzione. La superficie rigogliosa della pianura padana, diventa lunare, roccia apparentemente senza vita, nella quale la figura umana è inesistente o comunque non contemplata, ma se ne avverte la presenza nelle architetture monolitiche o negli inquietanti sentieri che conducono al niente. Il risultato è assolutamente attuale e contemporaneo pur venendo da una tradizione classica italiana che sa di antico. Si ha la sensazione di un lavoro autonomo, indipendente, slegato da vincoli concettuali e da correnti.

Roger Hansson è nato nel 1967 a Hishult, Svezia, vive e lavora a Stoccolma. Ha partecipato all’ultima edizione di  LISTE 05 a Basilea. In anteprima per l’Italia, presenta in mostra una serie di nuovi lavori, olio su tela e su tavola, di piccole dimensioni. La pittura è materica; piccoli personaggi, si animano in luoghi improbabili. Le figure si allungano in ombre interminabili,  soldatini marciano con palloncini legati al braccio, o camminano sui rami degli alberi verso il cielo, ragazzi paseggiano mano nella mano mentre una piccola banda suona. L’atmosfera è giocosa ma mai banale, il rimando alla favola di Hans Christian Andersen (Il soldatino di piombo) e alla tradizione nordica è immediato. Hansson è un significativo rappresentante di uno tra i più interessanti panorami artistici attuali, quello scandinavo, che oltre al video e all’installazione, tecniche nelle quali si riconosce maggiormente, sa fare uso della pittura in maniera inaspettata.

Franziska Klotz, nasce nel 1979 a Dresda. Vive e lavora a Berlino. La giovane artista tedesca, alla prima mostra in Italia, presenta una serie di nuovi lavori dove alterna olio, acrilici e spray su tela. La Klotz predilige soggetti colti nello scorrere abituale della vita quotidiana: ragazzi nel parco, operai al lavoro, anziani che passeggiano lungo la spiaggia, riportandoli sulla tela con una pittura gestuale, con tratti appositamente non finiti, dove si nota il disegno sottostante. Il modo in cui l’artista utilizza i colori, puri e estesi per larghe campiture e soprattutto il trattamento cui sottopone per esempio gli acrilici, pongono la pittura dell’artista lontana dalle atmosfere rarefatte del precisionismo ottico di certa pittura fotografica, avvicinandola apparentemente a certi risultati della Bad Painting britannica, anche se a differenza di questa l’artista di Dresda rimane sempre in possesso del controllo sulle componenti formali dell’immagine.

The Galerie Davide Di Maggio Berlino/Milan, in collaboration with the Mudima Foundation, opens, on its new premises in via Tadino 26 in Milan, its new address, the first part of a project that will continue over two years, that aims to offer an overview of the scenario of young Italian and international painting.

The first part of this project will feature Pierpaolo Curti, Roger Hansson and Franziska Klotz.

Pierpaolo Curti, born in 1972 in Lodi near Milan, where he works and lives, presents a cold, metaphysical painting. Familiar places are immortalized, "frozen" on the board, with subtle and flat chromatic shades; almost a non-color. where the material surfaces here and there, re-establishing the link with the painting tradition of the Lombardarea. After the recent participation in the group show Prüfstelle in Berlin, the artist presents seven new works that confirm this line of research. The luxuriant surface of the Po Valley becomes lunar, with apparently lifeless rocks, where the human figure is absent or in any case not contemplated, in spite of the traces represented by monolithic architectures or unsettling tracks leading nowhere. The result is very topical and contemporary, even if it is rooted in a classical Italian tradition that evokes antiquity. One gets the feeling of an autonomous, independent work, free from bonds with concepts and movements.

Roger Hansson was born in 1967 in Hishult, he lives and works in Stockholm. He has participated in the last edition of LISTE 05 in Basel. He makes his debut in by presenting a series of new works, never shown before, oil on canvas and on board, of small dimensions. The painting is textural: small personalities appear in improbable locations. The figures are elongated into interminable shadows, little soldiers march with balloons tied to their arm, or walk on the branches of trees, towards the sky, youngsters stroll along hand in hand, while a little band plays. The atmosphere is playful but never banal, the reference to the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen (the tin soldier) and the Nordic tradition is immediately evident. Hansson is an important representative of one of the most interesting current artistic scenarios, the Scandinavian one, that in addition to video and installation, the most characteristic medias, is capable of using painting in unexpected ways.

Franziska Klotz was born in Dresden in 1979. She lives and works in Berlin. The young German artist, who shows in for the first time, presents a series of new works where she alternates oil, acrylic and spray on canvas. Klotz has a predilection for personalities captured in their habitual everyday activities: youngsters in the park, workers on their jobs, aged who stroll along the beach, rendering them on canvas with marked strokes, with intentionally unfinished lines, letting the drawing below shine through. The artist's way to use colors, pure and applied in large fields, and above all her treatment of for instance her acrylics, makes her paintings far removed from the rarified atmospheres of the optical precision of certain photographic paintings, making it seem more closely related to certain results of Bad Painting, even if the Dresden-born artist, as opposed to the latter, always remains in control of the formal components of the image.

Die Galerie Davide Di Maggio Berlin/Mailand eröffnet in Zusammenarbeit mit der Stiftung Mudima in den Räumlichkeiten der Via Tadino 26 in Mailand den ersten Teil eines zweijährigen Projektes, das einen Einblick in die Werke neuer, junger italienischer und internationaler Künstler bieten will.

Im ersten Teil dieses Projektes werden Pierpaolo Curti, Roger Hansson und Franziska Klotz beteiligt sein.

Pierpaolo Curti, geboren 1972 in Lodi (Milano), wo er noch heute lebt und arbeitet, präsentiert seine kalte und metaphysische Kunst. Er betrachtet vertraute Orte, “friert sie” auf der Leinwand ein, mit farblich schwachen, einfarbigen Tönen, beinahe einer Nicht-Farbe, durch die jedoch dann und wann die Material durchscheint, die die künstlerische Tradition der Lombardei widerspiegelt. Nach der jüngsten Teilnahme an der Sammelausstellung Prüfstelle in Berlin präsentiert der Künstler nun sieben neue Arbeiten, die in jene Richtung weisen. Die blühende Oberfläche der Poebene ähnelt hier der eines kahlen Mondes, Steine und Felsen wirken leblos, der Mensch scheint nicht zu existieren oder nicht vorgesehen zu sein; man nimmt ihn jedoch wahr in der monolithischen Architektur und in den beunruhigenden Pfaden, die ins Nichts führen. Und obwohl die Arbeit aus einer klassischen italienischen Tradition her entsteht, wirkt sie hochaktuell und zeitgenössisch. Man bekommt den Eindruck einer eigenständigen Arbeit, unabhängig, zusammengesetzt aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln, Konzepten und Strömungen.

Roger Hansson ist 1967 in Hishult in der Schweiz geboren und lebt und arbeitet heute in Stockholm. Er nahm an der letzten Ausgabe der LISTE 05 in Brasilien Teil. Zum ersten Mal in Italien präsentiert er eine Serie von neuen Arbeiten, Öl auf Leinwand, von kleinen Ausmaßen. Die Malerei ist stofflich; kleine Figuren werden in unwahrscheinlichen Orten zum Leben erweckt. Die Figuren erstrecken sich in endlosen Schatten, kleine Soldaten marschieren mit Luftballons am Arm umher oder sie schreiten über die Äste der Bäume in den Himmel hinein, Jungen spazieren Hand in Hand, während eine kleine Kapelle musiziert. Es herrscht eine verspielte Atmosphäre, die aber niemals banal wirkt, sie erinnert unverzüglich an Märchen von Hans Christian Andersen ('Der standhafte Zinnsoldat') und an die nordische Tradition. Hansson ist einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter der zeitgenössischen, skandinavischen Kunstszene, die, neben Techniken wie Video und Installation, für die sie bekannt geworden ist, auch mit unerwarteten Wegen in der Malerei überrascht.

Franziska Klotz, geboren 1979 in Dresden, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Die junge deutsche Künstlerin präsentiert auf ihrer ersten Ausstellung in Italien eine Serie von neuen Arbeiten, in denen sie abwechselnd Öl, Acryl und Spray auf Leinwand verwendet. Klotz bevorzugt gehobene Themen des Alltags und dem gewöhnlichen Leben: Menschen im Park, bei der Arbeit, Senioren bei ihrem Spaziergang am Strand bringt sie mit ihrer zeichenhaften Malerei auf die Leinwand, mit bestimmten Charakterzügen, die ins Unendliche reichen und in denen sich das darunter liegende Bild ankündigt. Mit der Art und Weise, wie sie Farben verwendet - zum Beispiel klare und ausgedehnte Farben für weite Landschaften - und besonders mit ihrer speziellen Art, Acrylfarben einzusetzen, entfernt sich sich die Künstlerin in ihren Zeichnungen von der raffinierten Atmosphäre der fotografischen Malerei, die optisch besonders präzise verfährt, und nähert sich des Öfteren eher dem englischen Bad Painting an. Die Dresdner Künstlerin behält dabei jedoch immer die Kontrolle über die formalen Elemente ihrer Bilder.
